Pinenuts
Pine kernels, outwardly a tiny nut but very popular. Pine trees are often towering trees with straight trunks. There are pine trees that start bearing fruit after 25 years, but, on the other hand, they live for hundred of years. The harvest season from October to March, does therefor not require precision. We specialize mostly in the Chinese and Russian pine nuts. Chinese pine nuts are somewhat shorter and rounder than the European species.
Pine kernels can be eaten raw, but also lightly roasted. They make delicious addition in salads and can be found in some nut mixes. The catering industry makes use of this delicacy too. In China, the nuts are often roasted in the shell before consumption
