The cashew nut has become the most popular nut for the consumer. Its sweetish taste is just wonderful and has ensured that the majority of mankind tuck into them. Not everyone in the world , however, can buy this noble nut, as it price is relatively high. Countries like Brazil, Indonesia and Vietnam in particular increasingly present themselves as major exporters of shelled cashew nuts.  

The cashew nut is one of the most remarkable species, since it grows at the bottom of a soft-flesh fruit, called the cashew apple. This fruit has various colors, from bright yellow to dark red. One fruit can produce several cashew nuts , which hang loose on a twig underneath the cashew apple. Cashew are predominantly used as snacks and in mixes. They are mostly lightly salted, but eating them unsalted will show the nuts off to its best advantage.
